Microsoft-Free Zone

• lack of security features
• adware/spyware
• virus writers who are always one step ahead of the anti-virus software

I point out to these people that there are alternative operating systems, but they're convinced they're stuck with Windows. I often think all these people need is to see what is possible on different platforms and maybe they could make an informed decision. That decision may be to stick with Microsoft, but at least it's an informed decision rather than buying MS because "there's no alternative".

In the 20+ years since I first used a computer I have used numerous operating systems including MS-DOS, Windows, Mac-OS, Unix, AIX, HP-UX, and RISC OS. I saved RISC OS till last simply because it is the one I use most. I use Windows only when there is no alternative as I consider it to be the most unstable, unreliable, user-unfriendly operating system I have ever used.

Web designers who have designed their sites on any non-MS operating system are invited to display either of the MSfree logos on their site, provided the logo acts as a link to this page. I expect web designers will know how to code this, but if anyone needs help they can email me and I will provide the code.
